About the 2026 Ontario 55+ Winter Games

The heart of Muskoka will come alive with athletic excellence and community spirit as Huntsville proudly hosts the 2026 Ontario 55+ Winter Games from February 3-5, 2026. Set against the stunning backdrop of Ontario's beautiful cottage country, this premier winter sporting event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of active aging and competitive spirit.
 

A Winter Sports Spectacular

Over 1,000 dynamic athletes from across Ontario will converge on picturesque Huntsville to compete in 11 thrilling winter sports across 14 carefully selected local venues. These accomplished seniors will inspire spectators and fellow participants alike with their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship.


Supporting this remarkable gathering will be more than 300 enthusiastic local volunteers, whose warm Muskoka hospitality will ensure every participant feels welcomed and celebrated throughout their stay in our beautiful community.


Event Schedule

The three-day celebration unfolds as follows:

  • Tuesday, February 3, 2026: Opening Ceremony - officially launching the games with pageantry and community pride

  • Wednesday, February 4, 2026: Day 1 Sporting Events & Middle Night Event - competition begins in earnest with an evening celebration

  • Thursday, February 5, 2026: Day 2 Sporting Events & Medal Ceremonies - culminating in the recognition of athletic achievements

 

About Games Ontario
The Ontario 55+ Winter Games operate under the prestigious umbrella of Games Ontario, a comprehensive program supported by the Ontario Government. This vital initiative delivers and funds multi-sport events throughout the province, including the Ontario Winter and Summer Games for youth, the Ontario 55+ Winter and Summer Games, and the Ontario Parasport Games.


These games represent the pinnacle of senior amateur sport in Ontario, bringing together the province's most dedicated and accomplished 55+ athletes for competition at the highest level.


Pathway to Participation
The games are organized in partnership with the Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA), ensuring the highest standards of competition and participant experience. All athletes must be active OSGA members within their regional district and demonstrate their competitive prowess by qualifying at local or district events before earning the privilege to compete at the Provincial Games.
